Summer in Schwangau, Bavaria

At the end of June when rhododendrons are blooming and young cattle have migrated to the alps, summer has started in Schwangau. Numerous hiking trails and unspoilt natural surroundings. Good mountain huts and simple alpine shelters serve typical Swabia snacks like ravioli, cheese noodles, hearty appetizers and homemade cakes. 

Summer is the busiest season. Now you are free to enjoy the holiday feeling. Swimming in the Alpsee overlooking the royal palaces, sailing on the largest reservoir of Bavaria - the Forggensee - or simply relax in the nature reserve at Bannwaldsee or enjoy the silence of the royal swan lake. In Schwangau activities are eventful and numerous.

The beer garden season begins and life in Schwangau is busy. Under old chestnut trees at tranquil places or simply in the village.

Summer in Schwangau is also the time for festivals. The Trachtenverein (national costume group), the music band, the famous bavarian dance groups, the rifle club, the fire department or the fishermen, entertain locals and guests in their traditional summer festivals. Also folkloric evenings or concerts in Schwangau belong to the summer atmosphere and are part of the natural annual flow.

On Thursdays you may listen to the afternoon concerts given in the castle brewery Schwangau. If the weather is warm and sunnny,  the performance will normally be held outside in the pavilion with a unique panoramic view of the mountains and castles - if it's raining,  the music will take place inside of the grand ballroom.

Every second Friday, in the castle brewery Schwangau, you will find a traditional evening with the "Trachtenverein d'Schwanstoaner", Schuhplattler, folk music and children's dance group, inspire the numerous visitors, with love for tradition and costume.  

From early July to early August each club celebrates their summer festival. The rifle club in the idyllic Häuserried, the music band of Schwangau in the festival tent at the primary school, the fire department celebrates close to the Firefighting Museum in Tassiloweg,

the folklore club on the outside area of the castle brewery and the fishermen club quite relaxed at the pond of the park in Schwangau.
